Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been forced to deny a report claiming they failed to attend a charity fundraiser on Sunday because they got into a heated argument.
A source told the New York Post, the couple “were in the car on the way, when they had an epic fight” and “ended up turning around.”
Ellen and Portia were slated to attend the Saving SPOT! animal charity fundraiser in Santa Monica and were even pictured as hosts on the event’s invitation.
Says a source: “Reporters were told they were on their way, until the head of the charity informed everyone at the end of the event that they weren’t going to make it due to ‘logistics.’”
For her part, Ellen says there was a miscommunication because she and Portia never confirmed they would be attending.
“This is the first time we have seen our images attached to the invite,” says Ellen in a statement. “It was not approved and it is misleading.’
Her attorney Marty Singer went even further by refuting any merit to the claims of strife between the A-list couple: “The story is a complete lie. My client told the organizer they never agreed nor planned to attend the event. There was no fight that caused them not to attend.”
